Windows 10 Anniversary Update Dated, Includes Xbox Play Anywhere

Microsoft has confirmed that the much hyped Windows 10 Anniversary Update is going to arrive in August, bringing a series of gaming features as well as Xbox Play Anywhere.

Xbox Play Anywhere was announced by Microsoft during its E3 2016 press conference earlier this month. The initiative is designed to feature support for cross-play and cross-save between Xbox One and PC for specific games. Under this new program, a user can buy the game on one platform and still be able to play on the other for free. He/She can also switch between Xbox One and PC, as the system itself will keep track of achievements and progression.

Microsoft has confirmed Xbox Play Anywhere support for a number of upcoming games: Gears of War 4, Scalebound, Forza Horizon 3, Halo Wars 2, Sea of Thieves, Killer Instinct 3, State of Decay, Ark: Survival Evolved, Crackdown 3, We Happy Few, Cuphead, and ReCore.

Alongside Xbox Play Anywhere, the Windows 10 Anniversary Update is going to bring a set of security updates and improvements to Windows Defender. Support for Cortana will also be included, where the AI is going to help you with common tasks, “find great new games” and keep track of friends. There’s also Windows Ink that will let you scrawl over anything and everything.

The Windows 10 Anniversary Update is set to go live on August 2.
