Cyberpunk 2077 will likely feature manned vehicles as well as relating vehicular combat, suggests recently posted job listings by CD Projekt RED.
The Polish studio is currently in search for a vehicle gameplay programmer who is going to “create the whole architecture of vehicle-related code and the physics of driving / flying in those vehicles.” Another vehicle-related listing is seeking a candidate who is going to “create compelling vehicle-based gameplay and design “vehicle-based AI systems.”
CD Projekt RED is also looking for a concept artist who will be tasked with creating concept designs for vehicles, machines, weapons, and more. In total, the studio currently has more than 60 open positions on its career-page for the game.
CD Projekt RED likes to divide its resources between various projects, similar to how it had a small team dedicated to Cyberpunk 2077 while it worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. With Geralt’s adventure all wrapped up, it’s time for the developer to focus a majority of its workforce on completing Cyberpunk 2077.
The game is still in its early phase of production and hence, the developer is not ready to divulge any details. Studio Co-Founder Marcin Iwinski mentioned previously that talking about Cyberpunk 2077 means showing what it can possibly do. In other words, we’re unlikely to hear anything constructive until the game has reached the stage where we can glimpse at small gameplay footage.
Cyberpunk 2077 is slated for a release between 2017 and 2021. While we would love to have the game in our hands as soon as possible, fall 2018 or 2019 looks to be a likely release window. The game is assumingly being developed for consoles and PC.
