Sony Announces Gamescom 2016 Lineup

Sony has today unveiled the games it will be bringing to Gamescom 2016 next week.

Going through the list of games, Sony’s focus for Gamescom 2016 is majorly on promoting its virtual reality headset. Over a dozen titles have been listed for PlayStation VR while only four games are being featured on PlayStation 4. According to the announcement, several of the titles are going to be playable at Sony’s booth. However, there are some that will be there for just show. These will perhaps come with tech demos to entice the audience, or just new trailers.

Playable Games:

  • Batman: Arkham VR
  • Battlezone
  • Bound VR
  • Eeve Valkyrie
  • Farpoint
  • Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live
  • Headmaster
  • Here They Lie
  • Hustle Kings VR
  • The Playroom VR
  • Resident Evil 7
  • RIGS: Mechanized Combat League
  • Robinson: The Journey
  • Until Dawn: Rush of Blood
  • Super Stardust Ultra VR
  • Tumble VR
  • PlayStation VR Worlds
  • Titanfall 2
  • Gran Turismo Sport
  • Destiny: Rise of Iron

Unplayable Games:

  • Horizon Zero Dawn
  • Days Gone
  • Detroit: Become Human
  • Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
  • Mafia III

Unfortunately for many, the recently announced God of War is missing from the list. This perhaps only confirms the speculation that Sony has no plans to release the new installment this fall. God of War will most likely release in late 2017, which is probably going to disappoint attendees who were hoping to get some personal time with Kratos at Sony’s Gamescom 2016 booth.

That being said, Sony is scheduled to host an exclusive event on September 7 where it is going to officially unveil PlayStation Neo. According to reports, the company is going to showcase the new console upgrade with a tech demo. If we’re really lucky, we might see Kratos jump on screen to showcase the benefits of PlayStation Neo.

Gamescom 2016 is scheduled to run from August 17-21 in Cologne, Germany.
