FIFA 17 Breaks Franchise Record in UK Sales Chart

This year’s FIFA 17 launched in the United Kingdom to a stellar reception, registering the highest launch sales in the region for the franchise in history.

The first installment in the series to be powered by Frosbite engine released last week. It debuted as the number one game in the UK sales chart, outselling all previous FIFA games for the highest launch-week sales ever.

According to reports, FIFA 17 sales were 18 per cent up on last year. It outsold even the high bar set by FIFA 13. In comparison to FIFA 16, the new game raked in 16 percent more sales.

Despite the fact that Xbox One saw a major surge in sales in September, owning 71 percent of the hardware market, it was Sony’s PlayStation 4 console that saw the most FIFA 17 copies sold. It’s important to note that Microsoft was heavily promoting the title through Xbox One S console bundles that included a copy of the game.

Almost 53 percent of total sales were on Sony’s new console. The Xbox One version of the game account for nearly 40 percent of sales. The previous-generation consoles combined for almost 6 percent of total sales.

Elsewhere in the charts, Forza Horizon 3 beat Forza Horizon 2 in terms of launch sales by a whole 12 percent. It had the third-highest launch week sales of any Forza/Forza Horizon game ever.

GTA V refuses to fall down from the top-10 best-selling games list. BioShock: The Collection slumped to fourth place, while Super Mario 3D World jumped 999% thanks to a price drop.
