According to a recently released research note, Apple is going to release three new iPad models in March 2017 one with a 10.9 bezel-less display.
Apple did not update their iPad lineup this year probably because they think they should focus more on other products and their lineup currently doesn’t need an update and is more than adequate for a slightly longer run. However, according to a research note from Barclays Research analysts ‘Blayne Curtis, Christopher Hemmelgarn, Thomas O’Malley, and Jerry Zhang’ Apple is set to upgrade its tablet lineup in March of 2017. The analysts cite various supply chain sources for their prediction.
According to these research notes published by the analysts, Apple will apparently be introducing a brand new iPad model with a 10.9-inch display which will have the same dimensions as the current 9.7 inch iPad Pro. Interestingly this means that the display won’t have any bezels around the display. This also signals that the home button will be going away from this new iPad. It seems that Apple is moving in the right direction since a larger screen in a smaller body is what most professionals and general users need right now.
The new iPad Pro!
The new 12.9-inch iPad Pro is rumored to betting big upgrades as well. It is expected that it will have a better 12-migapixel cameras from its little 9.7-inch brother as well as a True Tone display. Moreover, according to the research notes it is expected to carry a lower price tag and will sell alongside the current iPad mini 4 which is expected to not receive an upgrade this year. Those who want to upgrade this year should take this news into account.
Headphone jacks for the win!
The new iPads are expected to have 4 microphones and will have the headphone jack. This is quite strange since Apple has already removed the audio port from its smartphone lineup but is wanting to keep it in its notebook and tablet lineup. There is a possibility that this rumor might not be true and we’ll get to know more about these small details once we get closer to the release date of these models.
TechDrake will keep its users updated on this news. This report might give us a general idea of where Apple is moving with its new smartphones and tablets, with a bezel-less display and the removal of a home button might be a step in the right direction for the company if the report is indeed true.
