Apple Store Goes Down; Displays Message For “Something Special”

The online Apple hardware store has been shut down for, what can only be preparations for the release of a new product. The Apple store page displays a message that has been repeated by Apple in different ways before every product launch, “We’ve got something special in store for you.” The suspension of the webpage came with the announcement that it would be inaccessible to the public from 3 am to 8:30 am Eastern time (12 am to 5:30 am Pacific Standard Time). This is usually when Apple sends out press releases for new products. This could be a new iPad Pro or new iPad announcement or it could signal the launch of a new iPhone SE model with 128 GB of storage.

The Message On The Apple Online Store

New iPads

New iPads are usually released this time of year. New iPads and iPad Pros with thinner bezel displays and faster processors as well as more vibrant displays and better cameras are expected as always. A new 12.9 inch iPad Pro is expected as well as a 9.7 inch variant; the original iPad is predicted to have a thinner bezel display going up to 10.5 inches from its signature 9.7 inch display. However, these products require a launch event and are unlikely to be released via an update online. The company could revise the prices of the iPads already up for purchase. The iPad is still the number one selling tablet on the planet and with Samsung’s announcement of the Galaxy Tab S3 at the Mobile World Congress, competition is ripe.

iPhone SE 2

The iPhone SE was launched last March and became a pretty good budget Apple phone. It was a new and improved version of the iPhone 4/4S model and received great reviews from tech reviewers all around. The iPhone SE also became a bestseller in the UK, outselling the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the iPhone 6S. The budget smartphone market has never been so competitive with the likes of Xiaomi, LG, Samsung and of course, the industry leader, OnePlus, giving it their all to capture as much of it as possible. Right now though, none of the other companies have plans to release budget phones. The LG G6 just came out, Xiaomi just launched its Redmi Note phones and Samsung is gearing up for the launch of the S8 and S8+. OnePlus is also going to release their phone (rumoured to be the OnePlus 5) somewhere in the summer. The timing for the release of the SE 2 couldn’t be better.
