Xbox Play Anywhere is a new initiative announced during Microsoft’s E3 2016 press briefing, where consumers have to only buy games once to play them on both Xbox One and PC for absolutely free.
To put it simply, a single purchase will allow you to play the game on both platforms. More importantly, Microsoft has promised the tracking of progress and achievements, with disregard to what platform you’ve opted to play your purchase on. In addition, Xbox Play Anywhere will offer cross-platform multiplayer gaming across Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
“Gamers have never had more choice in how and where they play,” Xbox boss Phil Spencer said during the conference. “We are bringing our biggest games lineup ever to Xbox One and Windows 10, uniting gamers across networks on Xbox Live and expanding the Xbox One family of devices.”
