Another rumor was confirmed at Microsoft’s E3 2016 press conference; State of Decay 2 is going to launch for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC sometime in 2017.
The next installment in the series received a brief trailer that accentuated the fact that “nobody survives alone”. The inclusion of cooperative multiplayer means that State of Decay 2 will see to players joining forces to overcome challenges. The developer may very well include missions or areas that can only be cleaned out by working together.
Additionally, players will be able to salvage resources from their dying surroundings and build entire communities. This brings the potential of protecting each other’s settlement and ensuring a friendly, clean neighborhood. Compared to the first game, the settlement-building tools look noticeably improved.
The trailer also mentioned the game remembering the choices you make while pursuing “your own unique story”. Undead Labs has yet to clarify just how the game’s dialogue system or narrative is going to work in this regard, and just how much our choices will affect the world around us.
Note that State of Decay 2 is an exclusive title for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. From the wordings, it’s unlikely that Undead Labs will put the game out for PlayStation 4 in the years to come.
