With the popularity surrounding Pokémon Go since its launch last week, it’s not even surprising to know that it has been downloaded over 15 million times already.
The game is currently available on both Android and iOS devices through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store respectively. Research firm SensorTower went to work recently to tally the download counters from both stores.
Not only was the 15 million figure confirmed, but also the fact that Pokémon Go is one of the most used apps on both stores. According to the report, iOS users are spending more time playing the game on a daily average basis than they are using Facebook and Snapchat. That being said, the addicting Candy Crush remains the most used app with over 40 minutes of game-time on average, daily, as opposed to 33 minutes for Pokémon Go.
Nintendo’s entry into the mobile market has so far yielded great fruits. Pokémon Go is yet to hit all major territories worldwide and is currently only available in the United States, Australia and New Zealand. Nonetheless, Nintendo has achieved a 25 increase in its shares since the launch of the game on July 5. This has resulted in the biggest rise per share price in the company’s history since 1983. According to reports, Nintendo’s market value has since then soared to about $7.5 billion.
Pokémon Go is expected to launch in Asia, Europe, and other territories soon.
