This year’s FIFA installment marks the first time for the franchise to shift over to Electronic Arts’ Frosbite engine. Until now, EA Sports had been utilizing its Ignite engine. FIFA 17, though, is going to be powered by the same engine that is being used by numerous franchises of EA including Battlefield, Mirror’s Edge, Need for Speed, Dragon Age, and Star Wars: Battlefront.

Thanks to the Frostbite engine, FIFA 17 is going to feature several new features and plenty of other changes. Suffice to say, this year’s installment should have fans excited. One new feature is in the form of a single-player career mode called The Journey. Players are going to fill the shoes of a promising rookie named Alex Hunter and follow a journey into his career. Players will have the opportunity to interact and play for some of the best football managers out there, in any Premier League club, and alongside some of the best players around.

FIFA 17 is scheduled for release on September 27 in North America and September 29 worldwide for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. As it is standard, EA Access and Origin Access members will get to play the game early.
