Gears of War 4 players who have played any previous game in the series are entitled to special bonuses.
Microsoft announced today that the “Legacy emblem” is exclusive to returning veterans. Being a current Xbox Live Gold subscriber is a requirement, but Silver members who have logged into Xbox Live in the past year will get the emblem as well.
“The Gears community is incredibly special. Your loyalty and passion are unmatched, so here’s a thank you from us to you for being amazing fans,” developer The Coalition wrote on the official forums.
The Legacy emblem is called “First Wave” and can be found in the Gears of War customization menu. It’s basically a little something to show others your Gears of War veteran status. Your in-game character carries a COG banner from past games.
In addition to the emblem, entitled players also receive the Operations Pack. This features at least one customization item and four cards.
Microsoft is distributing the pack through Xbox Live messages. According to the developer, the codes are being sent out in waves and some players may possibly have to wait a bit. Importantly, the codes need to be redeemed by December 31, 2016. The Operations Pack codes expire when we enter the new year.
Gears of War 4 is now available for pre-load on Xbox One and PC to those who pre-ordered the digital version. The digital version also comes with Microsoft’s Xbox Play Anywhere tag, giving owners access to both console and PC versions. There’s still time if you’re pondering over pre-ordering the game.
Gears of War 4 is scheduled to release on October 11 for Xbox One and PC. Its launch is confirmed to be accompanied by a day-one patch but only for those with physical copies. This is one of the highly anticipated titles of 2016. We’re expecting a lot of brutal action from the new Gears of War game.
