Super Mario Run released for iOS devices earlier this week, jumping straight to the top of Apple’s free games charts within hours.
The game is free to download and grants limited access to three short levels. Mario, who is unlocked by default, is the only playable character in the free version. In order to receive the complete experience, users must pay $10 for the premium version of Super Mario Run. Doing so allows them to unlock additional playable characters from the beloved universe who we’ve come to love over the decades.
Collect 150 Green Toads and 150 Purple Toads to build the “Luigi House” in the Mushroom Kingdom. Once the building is ready, our green-overalls-wearing plumber will be available for play.
Yoshi is probably the easiest character to unlock in the game. Simply collect 30 Red Toads and 30 Yellow Toads to build the “Yoshi House” in the Mushroom Kingdom.
Speaking of easy, simply link your official My Nintendo account with Super Mario Run in order to play as Toad.
Collect 200 Red Toads, 200 Blue Toads, 200 Green Toads, 200 Purple Toads, and 200 Yellow Toads in Toad Rally to get the option of building the “Toadette House” in the Mushroom Kingdom.
Unlocking Princess Peach
In contrast to others, Princess Peach is the hardest character to unlock in Super Mario Run. To have her join the playable roster, you’ll need to complete every single level in each of the six worlds. It’s not as hard as it’s frustrating and time consuming.
Super Mario Run is currently only available on iOS devices but Nintendo plans on releasing an Android version in early 2017. More details are expected to arrive soon.
The game is expected by industry analysts to “easily” achieve 1 billion downloads in no time and end up as one of the most popular smartphone games in history.
