The off-road racing franchise from Codemasters is returning this year in the form of Dirt 4, the company announced today.
The new installment is all about “embracing the dangers” of motor-sports and experiencing the thrill and adrenaline from behind a steering wheel. According to the developer, the new focus is an essential part of not only Dirt 4 but also off-road racing.
“Dirt 4 takes the passion and authenticity of off-road racing to the next level, whilst also re-introducing you all to white-knuckle truck and buggy racing in Landrush,” exclaimed the developer.
While there are many features that Codemasters will unveil in due time, it went ahead to share a few teasers about a system called “Your Stage”. Players will be given the necessary tools to create their own stages, which can be then shared with others as a challenge.
“You choose your location and set the route parameters, then Your Stage does the hard work to create a unique rally stage that you can race, share with your friends, and then challenge them to beat your time” the developer said. “Your Stage allows experienced rally players to create longer, more technical routes, whilst newcomers can create simpler shorter routes as they hone their skills.”
Dirt 4 is scheduled to release in June for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It follows Dirt Rally which was released in December 2015. More details will arrive at a later date.
