With Microsoft cancelling Scalebound at the start of the year, the Xbox consumer-base is rightfully worried about the fate of Crackdown 3.
The upcoming open-world action-adventure title is still hidden behind a veil, with Microsoft purposely choosing to only make minor mention of the game in the past months. However, the publisher has begun opening a bit about the Xbox One lineup for this year and Crackdown 3 will be part of it.
Over the weekend, the company’s general manager Shanon Loftis reiterated that Crackdown 3 is penned for launch this year. The ambitious project has not been canned and development is right on schedule. As such, the game will hit shelves later this year as one of the core offerings from Microsoft to end the year with.
If you remember how great the original Crackdowns were, with the big open cities and as you level up your car and weapons also level up, imagine all of that times 10. Crackdown 3 is all about the boom. It is a massive futuristic city. You have smarter enemies, more vehicles and new weapons. The explosion and the destruction make it an incredible experience. Crackdown 3 is coming this year.
This is not the first time that Loftis has talked excitedly about the game. Last fall, she promised that Crackdown 3 will be worth the wait. According to her, it comprises more features in its campaign than any game done previously by Reagent Games. She has also teased at various occasions that Crackdown 3 is “something that has been done for the first time”.
As per the original announcements, Crackdown 3 utilizes the power of cloud computations to take environmental destruction to a whole new level. Leveling a single building will send shock waves through the city.
The game is in development for Xbox One and PC, and from the looks of it will release around the holiday season.
