Three years ago, Dean Hall stepped down as the project lead on DayZ and left Bohemia Interactive to form his own studio by the name of RocketWerkz.
The New Zealand-based team released its first game last year called Out of Ammo, a virtual reality shooter with strategical elements, which currently sits on Steam with favorable reviews. However, this was not the game that Hall teased when he was parting ways with Bohemia Interactive. The mysterious unnamed project, dear to the developer, will finally be revealed at EGX Rezzed.
RocketWerkz will host an independent panel on April 1 which will not only talk about the project in detail but also answer questions from the crowd. Additionally, the game will be present on the show-floor for attendees to play.
“We are really keen to hear feedback from everyone at the show and Rezzed is the perfect place to show off a hardcore indie game,” said the developer in a press release. “Making a PC title is difficult at the best of times, striking that sweet spot between systems and gameplay is only something that can come from working with players directly, so where better to unveil a new project?”
Not much is known about the project except that it does not delve in virtual reality. Considering Hall’s background, could his upcoming game share similarities with DayZ? There is a likelihood that the team has been involved in survival open-world elements as Hall has considerable experience in that department.
DayZ is still stuck in Early Access. As far as the community is concerned, Hall abandoned the game at a very sensitive juncture. Though he is not responsible for the past three years, he did oversee the game’s inception. Hopefully, his upcoming game will will be released on a more timely basis.
EGX Rezzed 2017 takes place from March 30 – April 1 at London’s Tobacco Dock.
