Guerilla Games’ latest PlayStation 4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn has impressed gamers and critics alike with its breath-taking portrayal of Aloy the hunter in a robot-controlled world, and it has seen the game clock up more than 2.6 million copies in sales in just two weeks. Hence, fans of the latest IP from Sony will be pleased to know that a story expansion pack for Zero Dawn is already on its way.
The news was confirmed by Guerilla Games’ managing director Hermen Hulst, who said that Zero Dawn was Guerilla’s “biggest debut ever” and that they were thrilled at the reception it had received from players and critics. Shawn Layden, Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide head, also commented that while the response to Zero Dawn was expected to be exceptional, both parties behind the title were thrilled at the incredible critical reaction and the accompanying sales numbers.
Guerilla Games is also the developer house behind “Killzone” series, another PlayStation exclusive, spanning over four titles with the last one Killzone: Shadow Fall serving as the launch title for PlayStation 4 in 2013. The franchise has received mixed reviews over the course of its decade-long history, with frequent acclaim for visual representation and criticism on poorly-handled story modes two of the main themes in majority of the reviews.
As for Horizon Zero Dawn, the story expansion pack is already in development but there are no accompanying details so far to gratify the players. Without doubt, Zero Dawn has delivered a terrific experience to players and the story expansion should only serve to build upon the fantastic visual and game-play masterclass that the title has already provided.
