Eevee is probably the only all-purpose Pokemon in the Pokemon world. you can capture six of them and evolve them into any one of eight forms to collect a roster of all types of Pokemon. Flareon, Vaporeon and Jolteon cover the basic Fire, Water and Electric types and then come Umbreon (the Dark type) and Espeon (the Psychic type). There are even more evolutions like Leafeon and Glaceon but those aren’t available in Pokemon Go as of now so we’ll have to make do with these 5.
To evolve Eevee into Flareon, Vaporeon and Jolteon you would need the 3 elemental stones but with the addition of Candy in the game, you can’t use that method to evolve Pokemon anymore. What you can do, if you don’t care what evolution you get with Eevee, is to feed it 25 candy and watch it evolve into one of five random stages. However, some users on Reddit have noted that if you rename your Eevees, you can get them to evolve into specific Pokemon.
Rename Eevee “Pyro” to Evolve into Flareon (Fire Type)
Rename Eevee “Rainer” to Evolve into Vaporeon (Water Type)
Rename Eevee “Sparky” to Evolve into Jolteon (Electric Type)
Rename Eevee “Tamao” to Evolve into Umbreon (Dark Type)
Rename Eevee “Sakura” to Evolve into Espeon (Psychic Type)
Remember, though, that this trick only works once per evolution. You can’t evolve your Eevee twice into a Flareon, Vaporeon, and so on. Also, after you’ve renamed your Eevee, quit the app and restart it to double check whether the changes have been saved. Pokemon Go servers haven’t been too reliable as we have seen since its inception.
You can also get your Eevee to evolve into either of the latter two by taking a walk for 10 km with it in the night (Umbreon) or the day (Espeon).
You may ask why these names were chosen for the Eevolutions? Well, the first three names (Pyro, Rainer and Sparky) are of the three brothers Ash and co. met in the first season of the anime. They were the brothers who had evolved their Eevees to a Flareon, Vaporeon and Jolteon with elemental stones. The latter two (Tamao and Sakura) met Ash later on in the series.
The trick was confirmed by Niantic at San Diego Comic Con though it has been known to falter sometimes so be sure to quit the app and double check the names like we’ve mentioned, to be sure.
