Bungie has confirmed that it will be hosting a beta event for Destiny 2 in the summers, paving way to an official release later this year.
Those interested in the highly anticipated sequel will have the opportunity of experiencing the game a few months ahead in advance. According to the developer, it will be an open beta and everyone will be able to get in on the action. Also, the beta will not be limited and take place across all three major platforms.
However, note that Bungie is offering individuals the added bonus of getting an early access to the beta on PlayStation 4. There is no telling how long the early access will be, and we are assuming it to last less than a couple of weeks at the most. Nonetheless, those interested will have to pre-order the game in order to secure their entry into the early access period.
Destiny 2 is available for pre-order in three different editions. There is the standard edition which contains only the game, the limited edition which also features the expansion pass as well as other cosmetic items, and finally the collector’s edition which will net owners both physical and digital extra goodies.
Bungie is expected to drop details about the upcoming beta event during E3 2017 in June. We are likely to receive a new trailer as well, in addition to other details about the upcoming sequel.
Destiny 2 will officially hit shelves on September 8 later this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. This will be the first time that the franchise hits Windows, with the first game being exclusive to consoles.
Activision has gone on record to admit that the development team was unable to keep up with the demand of content for the first game. The issue ultimately led to severe flak from the community, many of whom were not pleased to be running about the game with nothing to do.
Destiny 2 promises to improve on the original game, with more features and content that should have been there to begin with.
