Far Cry 5, the next installment in the award-winning franchise, will take place in the fictional setting of Hope County, Montana.

A series of short live action trailers display the beauty of the location, before affirming a dark element that is plaguing the countryside. The first takes us along a river snaking its way through lush plains, before a corpse is seen floating along it. The second shows strong winds blowing across a green field, before a man appears running right through and is shortly afterwards gunned down by someone off screen. The third goes past a church house, before it is revealed that the ringing bell in the tower is because someone’s head is being bashed in.

Far Cry 5 is scheduled for a “worldwide reveal” later this week on May 26. We are in for either a short story trailer that offers more details on the setting, or gameplay footage to get everyone hyped up.

Ubisoft has already confirmed that the title will released during the company’s fiscal year, which ends on March 31 next year. There is always the possibility that the studio is hoping for a holiday release, but the schedule will have to take into account its other games.

The new Assassin’s Creed installment, as well as The Crew 2, are both penned for a release before the end of the fiscal year. Considering that past Far Cry installments have mostly released in fall, it is likely that the developer will stick to the same release schedule. The way that Ubisoft is being very methodical with Assassin’s Creed, it might release it next year to give the team more time to polish the game.
