Nintendo Switch continues to do well in the market, registering as the best-selling video game hardware in the United States for the month of April.

According to NPD, which tracks sales for the specific region, the recently released hybrid console sold over 280,000 units last month. This is the second month in a row that the Nintendo Switch has dominated video game hardware sales in the United States. On the side, the 3DS handheld shifted over 68,000 units during the same month. Combing sales from both hardware, Nintendo accounted for almost half of all hardware sales across all gaming platforms.

Nintendo Switch is not just dominating in terms of hardware. On the side of software, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was the top-selling video game in the United States for the month of April. It reportedly sold more than 550,000 units, which is incredible when considering that the game only launched on the last weekend of the month. In addition, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was recorded as the third best-selling title for the same month.

For June, Nintendo Switch is slated to receive Arms, Ever Oasis, and Splatoon 2. The 3DS will receive Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia later this week, following with a bunch of titles next month.

The success of the console has gotten the attention of major publishers and developers. Electronic Arts has already exclaimed interest in bringing more titles on the console. Ubisoft is the latest to sing songs of praise, acknowledging that the console has the potential to compete with the likes of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The release of the Wii U may have left many skeptical, but the Switch has convinced them all to give Nintendo another try.
