The rumor mill has been churning again to suggest that Sony is almost guaranteed to announce Bloodborne 2 during its press conference at E3 2017 next month.

While there has been a lot of speculation about a possible sequel following the release of the first game a couple of years back, we are hearing about it this time from a developer. Hence, for once, there is actual credibility to deal with.

Thomas Mahler, game director of Moon Studios and the brain behind Ori and the Blind Forest, posted in a recent thread on NeoGAF to mention that there is a “99 percent” chance of Bloodborne 2 being revealed at the annual expo. He even marked off his statement with a smiley, further teasing that his sources are legitimate.

On the other hand, neither Sony nor From Software have given away any teasers to the existence of the sequel. Last year, the developer announced that it is done with the Souls series for the time being. According to studio president Hidetaka Miyazaki, it is time for the team to move on from the franchise and explore other genres and ideas.

While Bloodborne is essentially a child of the Souls series, it is possible that the studio is still willing to work on it. Not to mention, the first game was a smashing success on the PlayStation 4 and Sony would be doing itself an injustice by not convincing From Software to follow through with a sequel.

On the other hand, many are speculating that the studio will definitely announce something new at E3 2017 but it might not be Bloodborne 2.

In addition, Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios, shared an image on Twitter in February where he was hanging out with the original team of the first game. We don’t have to wait that long to see if the rumors are true.
