We now know AMD Ryzen Threadripper CPU is just around the corner, waiting to get released, a recent official packaging of AMD Ryzen Threadripper has been revealed, and it is big.
The big packaging adds another piece of puzzle to the rumor that Threadripper CPUs may come with AIO LCS liquid cooler out of the box. Ofcourse, the big size of the packaging does not contains the processor only; AMD Ryzen must have added the rumored water cooler or a stock cooler in it. We will know for sure once AMD Ryzen unpacks the contents of AMD Ryzen Threadripper CPU packaging.
AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors are targeted for PC enthusiasts only, since its packs massive core count and even more number of threads. Intel also aims to launch its core i9 processors for PC enthusiasts, but Threadripper processor is comparatively cheap and may come out with liquid cooler out of the box. This source information is more than enough to shake the faith of Intel fans that look forward to the launch of Core i9. Core i9 will most likely come with stock cooler that too at an additional price along with the base CPU. On the contrary, you will get additional liquid cooler in total price of a Threadripper CPU.
Comparatively, you will pay $700 more if you buy Intel Core i9-7960X than AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X. This is a clear base line that AMD Ryzen stretched in competition with Intel in terms of hardware diversity and effective cheapness of CPUs.
AMD has revealed the prices of Threadripper 1950X and Threadripper 1920X. The top tier Threadripper CPU has 16-cores, 32-threads, clocked at 3.4GHZ, while Threadripper 1920X has 12-cores, 23-threads, clocked at 3.5GHZ. Threadripper 1950X is priced at $999, while Threadripper 1920X costs $799.
AMD Ryzen Threadripper will launch this August, while its preview is scheduled at upcoming SIGGRAPH event in early August. Stay tuned to know more.
