As promised by NetherRealm Studios earlier this month, three new playable characters have been officially announced for Injustice 2 at Gamescom 2017.
The Fighter Pack 2 was already rumored to feature Raiden, the eternal god of thunder from the Mortal Kombat franchise. Hence, his confirmation is less surprising. The same, though, cannot be said about the other two characters.
The Injustice 2 roster is also making space for the inclusion of Black Manta, super-villain from the DC Universe and arch-nemesis of Aquaman. He certainly looks intimidating, but not as much as Hellboy. The hulking red-skinned demon, whose true name is Anung Un Rama, was sent to Earth as a baby to be raised by Nazi occultists. Nobody was expecting the Allied Forces to take him home instead, and certainly no one was expecting him to step foot into Injustice 2.
Unfortunately, the released trailer does not show any of them in action. We surely know how Raiden fights, but we must await before the developer drops details for Black Manta and Hellboy.
Fighter Pack 2 will be available for purchase on September 12 for Injustice 2. A worldwide reveal for Black Manta is scheduled for this weekend. That would perhaps put Hellboy for his reveal in the next. A price tag has not been announced but the first Fighter Pack arrived at $20, with players able to purchase individual characters for $6 each. The pricing is probably going to remain the same.
Black Manta, Raiden and Hellboy are included as part of Injustice 2: Ultimate Edition, which includes nine post-release DLC characters and additional cosmetics.
