There is significantly little information that Intel has teased about Ice Lake. While Coffee Lake or the 8th generation of Intel processor family will launch sometime later this year, Intel has mentioned that Ice Lake will succeed Coffee Lake. Check out the image below.
The source information comes directly from official Intel website. This places Ice Lake as 9th generation of Intel Core processor family. While we may see the processor architecture to shrink further to 10nm+ size. No information on unvieling of Ice Lake is known as of yet, however, we do know that 8th generation Coffee Lake lineup will be unvieled August, 21, 2017.
The 8th generation of Intel family lineup brings 6-core CPUs in mainstream. Meaning, you can buy the 8th gen processor and place it on a motherboard pricing less than $100. Previously, this was only possible with enthusiast CPU lineup. But, Intel now aims to bring 6-cores to mainstream.
Previously, a leaked CPU-Z benchmark of Coffee Lake processor suggested that the CPU will be based on 14nm technology with maximum 80W TDP. The 3.5GHz base clock speed processor will have maximum 43 multiplier and 99.78 MHz of Bus Speed. We wait on Intel till 21st August so that we know the official hardware specifiations of Coffee Lake.
