Worms W.M.D, released around this time last year, is now being prepped for an explosive launch on the Switch in the coming months.
This will be the first installment in the turn-based strategy franchise to grace the new hybrid console of Nintendo, as well as for any console of the company in over seven years.
According to developer and publisher Team17, the Switch version of Worms W.M.D will feature all updates released previously on the other three platforms. In addition, the game will include a new space theme, mushroom and tree forts. Players can also expect three new outfits and gravestones, among other options in an improved customization menu.
Worms W.M.D will feature a single-player campaign mode, as well as local and online multiplayer components on the Switch. More details have been promised to arrive soon, which should also include a more concrete release date other than the vague “later this year” slate.
Worms W.M.D is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The new installment in the franchise introduced a number of new features such as usable vehicles, crafting elements, more destruction than ever before, and explosions that rattle the screen. It has thirty campaign missions, with over eight weapons for use.
Elsewhere, Nintendo recently promised to have enough Switch units for sale during the busy and hectic holiday season. The company is reportedly increasing production, which should hopefully satisfy consumers in the coming months.
