Bethesda Softworks is reportedly working on at least five different projects that are yet to be unveiled. One of them is apparently getting a release later this year.

The confirmation was given by vice president of marketing Pete Hines to Tek Syndicate at PAX West this week. Unfortunately, he refrained from mentioning any details.

Considering that Bethesda Softworks chose not to announce the upcoming game at Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3 2017) in June, it is likely not something major. It must also be factored in that the publisher already has a very busy holiday season. There is Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, The Evil Within 2, Dishonored 2: Death of the Outsider, DOOM VFR, Fallout 4 VR, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for Nintendo Switch, and more. Adding another core release to that list would perhaps cannibalise sales.

Coincidentally, a half-baked product page from Target went live a week ago to feature a “Bethesda: Game of Thrones” header. There was speculation over whether or not the studio is working on a role-playing game set in Westeros. It was ultimately marked off as an error on the part of the retailer.

Only a few months remain before the end of the year. We might see Bethesda Softworks announce details sooner than expected. As much as it hurts to say, it is with certainty that the announcement will not be for The Elder Scrolls VI.
