BioWare left everyone surprised and impressed when it showcased Anthem at Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3 2017) in June to critical acclaim. The supposed answer to Destiny looks jaw-dropping for the time being, and has already attracted a large following. There is naturally an interest to get hands on the action-role-playing shooter as soon as possible. While there is still a significant period until the official launch, fans will be able to try it out for themselves a bit sooner than that.

Respond to fans on Twitter this week, game director Jonathan Warner revealed that it has “been an intense couple of months” for the development team. He confirmed that Anthem will receive a beta ahead of its release but did not share any further information.

We can only assume through traditional patterns that BioWare will begin with a closed beta for those who pre-order the game. If we are very lucky, an open beta will follow next that invites everyone. There is also the subject of platforms. Developers normally bring beta waves to consoles first, and PC only receives its share at the end.

However, do not expect to jump into Anthem any time soon. The game is still in development and slated for a release in late 2018. The ambitious setting may end up forcing the developer to delay the game for additional time. Even if Anthem is pegged for fall, the beta will take place in summers; meaning that there are still around nine to ten months remaining.

Anthem is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. BioWare recently stated that “it’s too soon for details” and it needs “just a little more time” before giving away new details. Perhaps the holiday season has something special in store for us.
