The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has finally received the all-important patch on PlayStation 4 to take advantage of the beefier hardware capabilities of PlayStation 4 Pro.
According to CD Projekt RED, the critically acclaimed conclusion to a magnificent trilogy has received a “slight boost to performance” and “all additional content feature support for 4K resolution” for those interested in prettier visuals.
“If you own a PS4 Pro and haven’t played The Witcher 3 yet, or are simply looking to relive Geralt’s final adventure again — it’s a great time to do so,” the official announcement concludes.
The developer has not shared any further details so it is pretty vague as to what kind of performance improvements players can expect from the patch. In addition, there is no clarification as to whether we are talking about native 4K resolution or upscaled. Looking at other titles that received a similar update, it is likely the latter.
The same update is also planned for Xbox One X. It should be released soon after the console hits global markets later this year. There is no confirmation on how soon the developer will release the patch though.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released in May 2015 and went on to earn hundreds of accoldaes over the years. This includes multiple “Game of the Year” awards as well as recognition in other departments. It has two expansion packs–Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, both of which are even better than the base game.
Unfortunately, the developer has not plans for another installment in the franchise. It is currently hard at work on Cyberpunk 2077, which is said to be on a much larger scale.
