Team Liquid now on top of the NA LCS after winning 2018 Spring Split

Captain Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng led Team Liquid this weekend to defeat 100 Thieves in 3-0 sweep, claiming their rightful place as kings of the NA LCS in Miami. Thanks to being the split’s champions, Team Liquid now have the North American seed at MSI, a tournament held by Riot Games in May for the best of the best from all over the world.

Though 100 Thieves lost assuredly, they have still proven to be a force to be reckoned with. Team Liquid, as a team with tournament veterans and even a world champion in the form of Impact as Season 3 champion, were already expected to take home the victory, but 100 Thieves certainly put up a fight for the crowd.

It is undoubtedly clear that there is no better choice than Team Liquid to represent NA as its best team as Doublelift showcases his signature top-level plays as well as his ability to lead, and team members Eugene “Pobelter” Park as well as Jake “Xmithie” Puchero in the mid-lane and jungle respectively show consistently spectacular performances.

What is truly remarkable, however, is the fact that Doublelift can still perform so well despite the tragic incident that has happened within his family not only a week ago. His mother was killed and father gravely injured in a horrible stabbing by his older brother, Yihong Peng. Though Doublelift’s parents did not support his career choice initially, they have grown to accept him eventually as he proved he had the ability to carve his own success in his field of choice.

The stress of such a heartbreaking tragedy as well as performing at the top level in an extremely competitive game is completely unimaginable. It may not help much, but for what it’s worth, we wish Doublelift the best and our condolences.
