By June 1st, a system for refunding cosmetic purchases will return for the benefit of all Fortnite players. This information was gathered by a customer support response to a Reddit user by the name of TheTokenBanana89.
The response to the user specifically outlines when the refund system will make a return, “If you’d like a refund on a recently purchased cosmetic item in Fortnite, you’re in luck,” states BadHero, Epic Games support lead and proprietor of the message. “Our Self-Service Cosmetic Return feature will be live by June 1st!”
The important feature will allow players to be able to refund up to three purchases for cosmetic items which include emotes, gliders, harvesting tools, outfits and back blings.
This news prompted many joyous reactions from the public which can be easily seen on the Fortnite twitter feed. To be honest, a refund feature should be a staple for any major avenue for monetary purchases. It safeguards the customer from getting really unlucky after purchasing an old cosmetic just when something new that catches their attention comes out. They don’t need to feel like they’ve wasted their V-bucks, the in-game currency, because they can simply refund their old purchase.
Even though the player support response stated that the system will be ready by June 1st, it doesn’t mean that’s when it will go live. It will likely be added in the following weekly update from that Friday. That means we can expect its addition to the game on Tuesday, the day when Fortnite faces its weekly reset.
For a game that financially relies on cosmetic sales, this is a rather big decision for Epic Games; regardless, it’s a feature that is a standard for high quality multiplayer free to play games and may even boost sales by allowing customers to have greater confidence in spending money because of the fallback option to refund any poor purchasing decisions that may or may not have been under the influence of certain substances.
According to the player support response, any purchases post 1st May 2018 will be eligible for refund once the system goes live.
