Nintendo has continued the tradition of its February Direct this year too. With no new updates by Nintendo in the past few months, fans were getting anxious and there were lots of doubt about this months’ direct. There are no more concerns right now as Nintendo has officially announced Direct for 8th February 2pm PT. According to the official Nintendo twitter, Direct will be roughly 40 minutes long and will focus on the upcoming games in the first half of 2023.

February Direct is always the most anticipated one but what makes this one even more special is Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The highly anticipated sequel to Breath of the Wild that has been in the making for the last 6 years. After some delays, the release is almost upon us. Besides a few trailers and teasers, Nintendo has yet to show anything significant about the game and what better place or time to do so then today. The game releases in 3 months’ time, 12th May, and is expected to be a major critical and commercial success. There is also a rumor of Nintendo increasing the price of its first party games so a price reveal for the game is something to look forward too.

Kirby marks its return in form of a remake of cult classic Kirby’s Return to Dreamland DX on 24th February. The game was originally released on Nintendo Wii in 2011 and is being remastered for the new generation. Expect a lot of information regarding the game and the upgrades it brings to the table during today’s presentation.
We are so looking forward to anything related to the Retro Studios developed Metroid Prime 4 during today’s direct. Metroid Prime 4 was announced in 2017 with Namco Bandai at the helm. It was later announced again in 2019 with Nintendo announcing a new studio and development from scratch for the game. It seems unlikely that the game will be released this year so the chances of it appearing today are slim (fingers crossed)
Continuing on the topic of first party games, a new mainline Mario game is long overdue. With a new Mario movie releasing this year, Super Mario odyssey 2 will be a treat for the fans. First game came out in 2017 and it is more than 5 years, so the announcement is not out of the question. We will also take Super Mario Galaxy 2 as a bonus. Please Nintendo
Pikmin 4 is also happening this year and we are really excited to hear anything about it and see some gameplay videos. The last game was released a decade ago and announcing the release date today will make the direct even sweeter.
Remastered versions of both Wind Waker and Twilight Princess have been rumoured for some time and with every Nintendo Direct announcement these rumours start getting hotter again. These two are our most anticipated re releases of all time and will make Switch home to every single mainline Legend of Zelda game. We can’t wait to sail the seas of Hyrule or go wild with the moon. But we also think Nintendo won’t risk hurting the sales of Tears of the Kingdom by releasing three games in one year. But one can hope
Advanced Wars 1+2 reboot camp was expected to release last year but was delayed. Nintendo assured fans last year that game is not cancelled and will be released. There is still no release date so any news regarding the release date will be welcomed by gamers.
There are lots of rumors of GB, GBC and GBA games coming to Nintendo Switch online service. With Nintendo slowing down on N64, NES and SNES releases, this announcement will rope in many new subscribers and please the current ones.
Also, if we are staying at the topic of first party games can we dream a little of Scarlet/Violet dlc? With the game officially crossing 18 million units sold, dlc is definitely happening and we can’t wait to get our hands on it.
Nintendo has a great relationship with indies and third-party publishers this generation. So, expect a lot of third-party games to make an appearance. Our guess is Hollow Knight Silksong with a brand-new gameplay trailer and release date.
This is a long list of hopes and wishes. With every Nintendo Direct around the corner, our excitement goes through the roof. We have rarely been disappointed by Nintendo in the past and with so many games to look forward to this year, we can’t wait to see what Nintendo is going to announce in a few hours. We will also update you after the Nintendo Direct. Tune back in for a lot of videos and news.
