Hogwarts Legacy was released on 10th of this month to critical acclaim. Both players and critics can’t stop praising the game and everything it does right in an oversaturated genre. For people like me, it is a dream come true to be a wizard at Hogwarts and relive some of the best moments of my life. But the success story doesn’t end here.

Avalanche software’s developed Hogwarts Legacy is a massive commercial success. According to this report, Hogwarts Legacy is the biggest launch in Europe since Red Dead Redemption 2. This obviously doesn’t include annual games like CoD or Fifa. This is a great achievement as Hogwarts Legacy managed to surpass the Elden Ring by 56% in its opening week.

Hogwarts Legacy is also Steam’s biggest single player launch since Cyberpunk 2077. The game has at least half a million players online concurrently in a single day with a maximum peak of around 900k according to steamdb. For a single-player game to reach almost a million concurrent players on steam is immense. Only two single-player games have managed to achieve such an honour-before Hogwarts Legacy, Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077. Elden Ring offers multiplayer in the form of co-op and invasions, whereas Hogwarts Legacy is strictly single player. This makes it even more impressive.

Regarding all the controversy surrounding the author of the Harry Potter books and the boycott of the game by some people, Hogwarts Legacy has managed to make its way into gamers’ hearts. The game has overwhelmingly positive reviews on steam and metacritic despite some technical flaws. The game is still number 1 on steam top sellers list despite some heavy hitters like Returnal finally gracing the PC.

The magic of the Harry Potter World continues to this day. The love for the world created by J K Rowlings is unmatched and there is nothing better than reliving the best moments of your childhood by putting yourself in the shoes of Harry or Hermoine.
