The Pokemon Company International has just announced a sum of $200,000 donated to the Relief Fund of the recent earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria. The company shared this news on its various media platforms with this message:
This comes at a crucial time where Syrian and Turkish affectee areas are still in need of support and help after a devastating natural disaster left buildings and lands in pieces. The GlobalGiving foundation has now received more than 19,174 donations and has accumulated more than $3 million for its Turkey and Syria Earthquake Relief Fund.
As Aljazeera states, the collapsed buildings from the 6.3 magnitude earthquake and its aftershocks left 294 people injured, with at least 6 people killed as reported as of yet. Many of the affected people are families including children that now lack basic necessities after losing their homes.
Al Jazeera’s Resul Serdar reporting from the Al Hammam crossing near the Syrian city of Afrin said people continued to suffer from a lack of clean water and electricity weeks after the devastating earthquakes.
“Particularly for children, its quite difficult. The rescue efforts [in Syria] have not been adequate,”
He added.
It comes as a very reassuring step from The Pokemon Company International to provide funds for what looks like one of the worst disasters of 2023, with GlobalGiving being credited as one of the organizations taking responsibility for their donated funds. A few of the other organizations that people can look to if they want to donate funds are; Syrian American Medical Society Foundation, the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, ICNA Relief USA, Plan International Inc, and Direct Relief. There are others as well such as the Zakat Foundation of America, GlobalGiving, Save the Children, CARE, and the American Red Cross.
Paving the way as the biggest franchise in the world, the news would look to hopefully motivate other companies to provide much-needed help to families in need.
