Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC Area Zero Announced

The concluding presentation for the latest Pokemon Presents stream has just announced the DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Both titles will be getting their batch of new content ahead this year as The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero.

Area Zero:

The DLC will be divided into two main parts, the first part as The Teal Mask and the second as The Indigo Disk. Both parts will bring brand new locations to explore for players with a whole array of new content. As it happened with the Pokemon Sword and Shield DLC, both parts will also bring brand-new Legendary Pokemon which seemingly have very intriguing art designs. We’ve gone through both parts ahead to give you all the information we know as of yet for the latest games’ DLC.

Part 1: The Teal Mask:

The first part of the DLC for the newest Gen 9 Pokemon titles will take players to the new place known as Kitakami, shown as a place of festivities resembling Japanese festivals full of Lanterns and stalls. Players will be visiting the new place as a school trip according to the game’s story.

The theme around this was highlighted with festival masks, with the signature thing being that the newest Legendary Pokemon, called Ogerpon, from the region will be wearing a type of glowing, fearsome mask. The Green colour scheme also hints at a rustic quality for this part which might probably have a close relation to nature. Players will be focusing on solving mysteries behind the folk tales of the new place in this expansion. Two new characters have also been shown in the official art for the expansion and there have also been three new Pokemon shown aside from the main Legendary Pokemon. This part looks to be more focused towards Exploration rather than Competitive Battling.

Part 1 of the DLC will be released later this year in the Autumn/Fall.

Part 2: The Indigo Disk:

The second part of the DLC comes in the form of the BlueBerry Academy, with the theme being much more modern and dynamic as compared to the first part The Teal Mask. This part will have players go to a new Academy as exchange studients known as the Blueberry Academy.

The highlight for this part of the DLC comes in the form of new challengers and Pokemon Battles and looks to be the more competitive end of the DLC. The Legendary Pokemon for this Part comes as Terapagos, with its shell hinting at the Terasal Phenomenon, the newest mechanic for Paldea that allows Pokemon to change their types or grant even stronger same-type moves. The official key art for The Indigo Disk also shows many new characters as well apparently coming as new challengers for players.

Part 2 of the DLC will arrive later in Winter towards the end of 2023 after Part 1.

Returning Old Pokemon:

The news has also been released that there will be many Pokemon returning to both games and will be available in their appropriate ingame DLC locations. Although it might not be the full list, some of the Pokemon shown to come back to the Paldea Pokedex are Ninetales, Shiftry, Yamna, Milotic and more in Part 1 The Teal Mask, and Metagross, Dewgong, and more in Part 2 The Indigo Disk. It might be the case that if not all, many of the missing Pokemon in the current Paldea Pokedex will come to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet through the newly announced DLC.

Special Uniforms:

Players who will buy the DLC will also get a new Uniform Set for their version of the game as well, the usual Scarlet/Orange colour suits for Pokemon Scarlet, and Violet/Purple coloured suits for Pokemon Violet. These will be available as soon as people purchase the DLC and redeem them as downloadable content.

Special Hisuian Zoroark:

There is also one last thing to mention, players that preorder The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC for Pokemon Scarlet or Pokemon Violet will also be able to get a special giveaway Pokemon from the Hisui Region. Hisuian Zoroark will be given via serial code to players that buy the DLC before October 31st 2023 ends. It’ll have the Charismatic Mark and the move Happy Hour, with the Dark Tera Type.

This Pokemon is not available through normal gameplay and is exclusive to the Hisui Region of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, so this is a cool new giveaway along with the DLC.

It’s also to mention that as before, the DLC for each version game is about the same, but one has to purchase it from the eShop according to the version of the game players have with them. For example, a person that owns a Pokemon Scarlet copy needs to purchase the DLC content query for Pokemon Scarlet, not accidentally Pokemon Violet’s.

The DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet looks to be great new additions to the already large array of content within the huge open world. The games are also looking to get their newest patch with many adjustments and fixes for the performance issues and the bugs and glitches found in the games. The patch notes have already been shared, with the patch going live anytime now.

There has also been a brand new addition to Tera Raid Battles with two brand-new forms for Legendary Pokemon, one exclusive to each game version, with both being available in raid Battles soon.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will also receive an update soon that will allow connectivity to Pokemon HOME. It will be able to connect to Pokemon GO, with its own brand-new mechanic for encountering and catching Gimmighoul.
