Pokemon GO Battle Weekend Event

For kicking off the month of July and its many special events in Pokemon GO, Niantic has just announced information for the first event coming, the Pokemon GO Battle Weekend Event.

The event comes with the Gen 5 theme from the DS Pokemon titles Pokemon Black and White. The event has the inclusion of the popular Driftveil City Gym from the Unova region and its Gymleader Clay. For this purpose, the battle rewards will be changed for the event duration giving better rewards for winning battles.

The event kicks off on the weekend of July 1st at 12 AM. It’ll conclude on the next day July 2nd at 11:59 PM at night.

Reward Changes:

The event’s Battle League Premium Track will now feature the following changes;

  1. Players will get guaranteed XL Rare Candy if they are Level 31 or above after every second win in a set.
  2. Players at level 30 or below in the game will get guaranteed Rare Candy for their every second win in a set.
  3. Stardust rewards will get a big buff so players will get more stardust from the reward track.
  4. The Premium Track rewards order will be rearranged for the event, which will go back to normal after the event concludes.

Battle Weekend Bonuses:

The following bonuses will be live during the event:

  1. Players will be 4x Stardust in the winning rewards. This won’t stack with the Master Tier rotation week however, nor will it include end-of-set rewards.
  2. Free Battle-themed Timed Research will be available to all players. The rewards will include Clay’s Cowboy hat as well.
  3. The number of sets players can play will be increased from 5 to 20.
  4. Paid Timed Research will also be available in the shop for 1$ featuring many different rewards such as Stardust, Rare Candy, Starpiece and more. This will be expirable however, so if players purchase it they’ll have to grind to finish in on the weekend before the event concludes.

Battle Leagues:

Single Type Cup: Great League Edition will be live during this Battle Weekend Event.

Master League Premier will also be live for players that have powerful Pokemon.

This is just the start, as 6 more events will be coming ahead after this one, as well as many other rewards and bonuses throughout July.
