What’s New in The 15 Inch MacBook Air
The 15-inch MacBook Air with M2 from Apple is essentially a larger version of the 13-inch MacBook Air. They have a similar appearance, and from a distance, you may confuse one for the other. The 15-inch variant retains the robust recycled aluminium chassis and is available in a fashionable “midnight” colour, however it is susceptible to fingerprints. Despite its increased size, it retains the classic Apple logo and recognisable style.
Because larger computers are popular in the market, many people have been waiting for a 15-inch MacBook Air. Apple has finally released a notebook for customers who want a larger screen but don’t want to pay the hefty price of a premium model. This new MacBook Air is exactly what fans wanted, with the same keyboard, notch, and small profile, but with a larger 15.3-inch display and an upgraded six-speaker system.
The only difference in this larger MacBook Air is the 15.3-inch display, but everything else is the same. The notch, which I find bothersome, is still present, as it was on my MacBook Pro. The keyboard is somewhat larger, as is the general design. The region on either side of the keyboard that had speaker grilles on the MacBook Pro is now just metal on the 15-inch Air.
Apple has retained the same connectors and their positioning as the 13-inch Air. On the left side, there are two Thunderbolt 3 / USB 4 connections, as well as a MagSafe 3 charging port. There is simply a 3.5 mm headphone jack on the right side.
The New 15 Inch MacBook Air
After years of anticipation, the obvious laptop has arrived. The MacBook Air 15-inch is exactly what Apple promised: a larger MacBook Air for the majority of consumers. It’s familiar: the keyboard is the same, the notch remains, and it’s still rather slim (but substantially heavier). The display is larger, measuring 15.3 inches, and the six-speaker system is a substantial upgrade.

Performance of The 15 Inch MacBook Air
The 15-inch MacBook Air is equipped with Apple’s M2 CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD, making it ideal for most office tasks, web surfing, and video streaming. Because they share the same CPU, it operates similarly to the 13-inch model. Except for one with more cores, it outscored Intel CPUs in other laptops in benchmark tests.
The file transfer speed astonished us, easily outperforming the 13-inch Air. Both Airs were aligned on Handbrake, but the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra fared extraordinarily well due to more cores. The 15-inch Air was faster than the 13-inch model when building a codebase, but slower than the MacBook Pro with active fans. The Air throttled somewhat during a stress test, as expected.
Gaming on The 15 Inch MacBook Air
The 15-inch Air’s performance in the Cinebench R23 stress test rapidly declined from an initial score of 8,675 to the low 7,000’s in subsequent trials. The M2 processor’s clock speeds were not recorded, although Cinebench estimates 3.5 GHz for single-core operations and 3.2 GHz for multi-core tasks. These estimations, however, may not be totally correct. TG Pro was used to measure the temperatures of the laptop, with the four efficiency cores averaging 91.82 degrees Celsius and the performance cores reaching 91.2 degrees Celsius.
To Wrap it all Up
The M2 CPU in the 15-inch MacBook Air provides a bigger display and enhanced performance. It keeps the traditional MacBook design, complete with notch and easily identifiable Apple logo. The laptop’s characteristics make it ideal for office work, online browsing, and basic chores, but due to its fanless design, it may struggle with prolonged, intense workloads.
The file transfer speed surpassed that of the 13-inch model, and it fared well in benchmark testing against Intel CPUs found in other laptops. The MacBook Air’s gaming performance is adequate, with the laptop handling titles like No Man’s Sky at roughly 70-80 frames per second. Overall, it’s a good choice for people looking for a larger MacBook Air experience without the high price tag.
