As Scott Herkelman, The Senior Vice President and General Manager at AMD speaks at Gamescom 2023, he starts the keynote by announcing the two new GPUs, the Radeon 7800 XT and the Radeon 7700 XT. They both have HDMI 2.1, AV1, and fast AI Acceleration for the Next Gen games. The chief architect of gaming solutions and marketing at AMD, Frank Azore also took the stage to give a fiery introduction to their upcoming AMD Adrenaline software with revolutionary features that power up new GPUs of AMD, even the old ones, consoles, and even the competitors’ GPUs. He also introduced the much anticipated AMD’s frame generator and upscaler, the FSR3.
Radeon 7800 XT and Radeon 7700 XT – For the 2K Resolution Gamer
The 7800 XT features 16 GB of DDR6 memory, 60 unified RDNA 3 compute units, 20 less than the 7900 XT Model, and a total board power of 263 watts. The 7700 XT has 12 GB of DDR6 Memory, 54 Unified RDNA 3 compute units, and a total board power of 245 watts. Both cards will allow users to play games on an average fps of 60+ running at 1440p at Max settings.

RX7800 XT 16GB compared to the NVidia’s RTX 4070 12GB, performs faster with higher frame rates, and by price, the AMD’s GPU is $100 cheaper than its competition, The RX7800 XT’s price is $499 and RX7700 XT is for $449. The RX 7700 XT 12GB stacked against the RTX 4060 TI 16GB also takes the lead in framerate. For example, Call of Duty MW2 at Native 1440p at Max Settings runs 31% faster on the RX770 XT. Both cards will be released on September 6th, 2023 and whoever purchases AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors, AMD Radeon RX 7000 and 6000 Series graphics cards, and AMD-based systems, through September 30, 2023, will get a free copy of Bethesda’s highly anticipated open-worlds adventure of Starfield, Skyrim in space.

AMD Adrenaline Software
As Frank Azore speaks about their new upcoming software, he mentions that it will be unified and simplified, all features will be in one location, and you won’t have to deal with different user interfaces. The software will let users modify the performance of the GPUs and also let you overclock them, all within Adrenaline. One thing he made loud and clear with their product is that no account registration is required. So you don’t have to create a user account to later forget your password and keep resetting it over time, happens to all of us. The features mentioned were the Anti Lag Plus, which lowers input lag during gameplay, and Radeon Super Resolution (RSR), their driver-based upscaler for DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 games that will help increase framerates significantly without compromising the resolution as such. Radeon Boost “dynamically lowers the resolution of the frame to accommodate a fast-moving object that’s detected via user input. It increases the framerate with a very slight impact on the image quality. The new Hyper RX feature gets all these features working together and turns them on all at once on all profiled games. Overall, The AMD Adrenaline vastly improves gameplay and performance and will be released in early September of 2023.
FSR3
The Fidelity FX Super Resolution is AMD’s form of DLSS, that generates frames to double or even triple your frame rate. When that is paired with AMD’s Anti Lag Plus, it also lowers latency substantially. FSR was originally released in 2021 and FSR2 last year. The technology is fairly new but drastically improves gameplay performance in all supported games. Till now, over 300 games have support for FSR, and more upcoming games will have implemented this new tech. For Example, Immortals of Aveum by EA and Forspoken by Square Enix will add support to FSR3 as mentioned in the keynote. FSR3 in ‘Performance’ mode and’ ‘frame generation enabled’ can improve up to 3.3x more FPS in Forspoken with Ultra High settings, Ray Tracing enabled, at 4K on AMD’s Radeon RX7900 XTX.

You can choose between Quality or Performance Mode for your own personal preference, In performance mode you get the maximum FPS that FSR3 can enable with a slight reduction in image quality. This new tech is not just for AMD cards, but it will also be supported in NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20 Series, 30 Series, and above. They also will add FSR3 support in consoles such as Xbox Series X. FSR3 will be released in the first quarter of 2024.
